The Replacements are heading home

The Replacements are heading home.  The Minnesota rockers have announced plans to play St. Paul’s Midway Stadium in September for what will be their first full headlining show in more than 20 years.

The last time they topped the bill all by themselves was July 4th, 1991, when they put on a free concert in Chicago’s Grant Park for tens-of-thousands of fans.  Since Paul Westerberg and company reunited in 2012, they’ve been playing a string of festivals including, most recently, Coachella.

The band’s second of two sets in Southern California featured an assist on guitar from Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, and they promise to bring out more special guests for the St. Paul show.

Tickets go on sale May 3rd at etix.com, with the concert scheduled to take place September 13th.
