Dave Grohl has helped make a dying Foo Fighters fan’s dream come true

Dave Grohl has helped make a dying Foo Fighters fan’s dream come true, by inviting him to the band’s upcoming concert in Los Angeles.

Ken Powell was diagnosed with melanoma 14 years ago, with the illness classified as terminal in 2009. A huge Foo Fighters fan with a wish to meet the band, a friend of Powell’s recently met frontman Grohl while working as an air attendant on a flight and told the singer Powell’s story.

After a cancelled meet-and-greet in Powell’s home city of Perth, because Grohl was sick with food poisoning, the Foo Fighters frontman has now invited Powell to the band’s upcoming gig in LA this September with an offer of VIP tickets. Grohl also sent Powell a picture of himself holding a sign that reads “Hi Ken” (see above).

Now, Powell is attempting to raise money to fund a flight to America for the concert, with any excess donated to a cancer charity. $9,068 (£6,000) has so far been raised of Powell’s $20,000 (£13,000) goal. Visit the fundraising page here.

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters will play a series of British and Irish gigs this summer. The band will play London, Manchester, Sunderland, Ireland’s Slane Castle and Edinburgh during May and Jun Then heading to the USA!!!!! Fenway Park!!!!
