The Worcester Palladium was shredded to pieces this past Sunday night as three powerhouses of rock and roll came rolling through with one thing on their mind. Melt faces! Clutch is currently touring the states and they brought with them two other bands completely capable of packing venues on their own accord, Zakk Sabbath and Kyng.
The crowd was packed in tight for this one as LA based rockers Kyng kicked things off and took the stage. Packed for good reason: these dudes can rock! The trio consisting of members Eddie Veliz (guitarist/vocals) Tony Castaneda (bass/backup vocals) and Pepe Clarke (drums) took control of the stage and never let go. I was super impressed with their talent as musicians. It was my first time seeing them live and it will definitely not be my last.
Next up was Zakk Sabbath. Now before I get into their set I just wanna preface it by saying that I believe Zakk Wylde is a machine. This dude has gotta be one of the busiest guys out there right now. Coming off a successful tour of is his own in support of his recent release Book Of Shadows II and the launch of his guitar company Wylde Audio, he is proving to be much more than a musician and a true force in all things music. This band is ridiculous live. With Joey Castillo on the kit and Rob Nicholson on bass it’s basically an all star cast of musicians that produce one of the best sounds out there. Zakk Wylde is a legend on the guitar and someone, who if you haven’t seen perform live, I’d highly suggest doing so.
Closing the night out was Clutch. If any band is capable of coming on after heart pounding and crowd pleasing sets from two amazing openers it’s Clutch. The Maryland natives have been doing this for awhile now and are so dialed in live they immediately get your attention and don’t let it go until they’re good and ready! Rifling off hit after hit they proved that like a fine bottle of wine they only get better with age.  So drink it up and go catch this tour before it comes to an end, You will not be disappointed!
