Kings of Leon will release their sixth studio album Mechanical Bull on September 24 through RCA Records. They were going to announce the album during their performance last night at the New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival, but that was postponed to today.
The first single will be called “Super Soaker” and will be out in mid-July. They recorded the album with producer Angelo Petraglia in March after starting in the fall.
This comes after 2010’s Come Around Sundown, which sold 727,000 copies. Their 2008 album Only By The Night sold 2.3 million copies and included the song “Use Somebody”, which won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 2010.
In July 2011, Caleb Followill had an on-stage meltdown during a Dallas concert which forced them to cancel the rest of their US tour. They now have several dates in 2013, which include the V Festival and at Austin City Limits Music Festival.
