Mumford & Sons have extended their tour after a break to deal with the health problems of bassist Ted Dwane. Dwane suffered a blood clot on the surface of his brain, which forced the band to reschedule several shows.
Now there’s a possibility he will be performing on the new dates. Keyboardist Ben Lovett previously said that Dwane will be back for Glastonbury this Sunday night. He told Radio Times magazine: “All we feel is incredibly grateful and happy that he’s going to be OK, and that we’re going to get back out on that stage at Glastonbury as four brothers and do what we do.”
The band will continue playing summer festivals (including Australia’s Splendor in the Grass) before starting their “Full English Tour” on August 26 at Toronto’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. The four rescheduled dates include New Orleans’ Mardi Gras World, Woodlands, Dallas and finally Bonner Springs on September 20. Supporting acts include Bear’s Den and The Vaccines.
Dwane’s blood clot happened only two weeks ago. He had emergency surgery and several shows were canceled, including an appearance at the Bonnaroo festival and Colorado’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
The band wrote on their website that Dwane is making a “steady recovery” and is “wearing his newly acquired shaven-headed hairstyle with enviable levels of suave.”
