U2’s first new song in three years is popping up in the new trailer for the upcoming Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
According to U2.com, the Irish rockers were inspired to write the track – titled “Ordinary Love” – after watching early cuts of the film. “Mandela” producer Anant Singh says the collaboration is fitting since Bono and company have been such staunch supporters of the legendary South African President.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is scheduled to hit theaters on November 29th. However, there’s no word yet as to when U2’s “Ordinary Love” might get a release of its own.
Meanwhile, U2 is busy working on a new full-length album. Bassist Adam Clayton says they hope to finish recording the follow-up to 2009’s No Line on the Horizon next month and release it sometime in early 2014.
