AC/DC is marking a career first. The band has finally cracked the top ten on the British singles chart. “Highway To Hell” is landing at number four on the latest UK tally.
According to the Britain’s “Official Charts Company,” the song’s rise stems from a social media campaign that was launched in an effort to keep the latest “X Factor” winner from taking the coveted number one spot on the Christmas week chart.
While the effort fell short of the goal – “X Factor” winner Sam Bailey’s “Skyscraper” leads the list – it gave AC/DC their first UK top ten hit.
“Highway To Hell” originally peaked at number 56 on the chart back in 1979. AC/DC’s highest charting UK hit until now was “Heatseeker,” which topped out at number 12 in 1988.
