AC/DC‘s Brian Johnson says guitarist Malcolm Young is still sick, and in the hospital.
The singer tells Classic Rock magazine Malcolm is “very private,” so he can’t disclose much about his bandmate’s condition. But he says Malcolm is “a small guy but he’s very strong” and “a fighter,” and they all have their “fingers crossed he’ll be back.”
However, AC/DC has continued working, and has finished their next album. Johnson admits it was “difficult” making the record without Malcolm, but he believes the guitarist “was rooting” for them.
For the project the band tapped Young’s nephew Stevie, who Brian says “was magnificent.” He adds that he’s “very excited” about the album, which has “some great songs.”
AC/DC’s new CD – the group’s follow up to 2008’s Black Ice – is expected later this year or early next year.
