After a ten-year hiatus, Boston’s heavy-hitting rock band Prospect Hill is back on the scene, recharged and reconfigured, with a new three-song EP titled Catalyst, released on October 18, 2024. The band’s return marks a new era, complete with lineup changes and a fresh sound that has already earned a spot on Spotify’s “Rock Hard” editorial playlist.
The EP, Catalyst, introduces fans to Edgar Troncoso in his role as the band’s new lead vocalist. Formerly the bassist, Troncoso has stepped up to bring a “commanding” new vocal presence, transforming the dynamic of the band’s classic sound. In an unexpected twist, Andy Tats, originally a guitar player, has now taken over on bass, giving the band’s rhythm section a new pulse. Original members, including guitarist Derek Rousseau and drummer Mark Roberge, remain with Prospect Hill, preserving the band’s roots while embracing its evolution.
Rousseau shared insights into the creative shift, describing Catalyst as “a diverse blend of melody and hard riffs.” Mark Roberge echoed the excitement, saying, “We needed time to reset, to come back stronger, and to make music that’s fun again. This EP is just the beginning.”
The EP has already ignited positive fan reactions, celebrating the energy and edge of the new lineup. With Catalyst out, the band has announced plans for a series of singles leading up to a full-length album set for June 2025.
Prospect Hill is preparing to bring their sound back to the stage, kicking off their return with two major release parties. Fans can catch them live on November 2, 2024, at Wally’s in Hampton Beach, NH, for their 15th Annual Halloween Party, and at Mixers Nightclub in Sabattus, ME, on December 7, 2024. These shows are only the beginning, as Prospect Hill has plans for a national tour in 2025, promising a powerful reintroduction of their high-octane energy to audiences across the country.
For those eager to hear what Prospect Hill has in store, Catalyst is now available on streaming platforms. Fans can stay updated on tour dates and new releases through the band’s official website, prospecthillband.com.
