“What a day, what a day” rang true on February 8th here in Connecticut.  With a Spring like weather day amid pending snowstorms, Nonpoint rocked their way through a Connecticut tour date and appearance.  On tour with Alter Bridge, they have been also headlining their own show dates along the tour with Weapons Of Anew and local talent.  A midweek crowd of about 700 people were given an amazing night of music! If you weren’t there, you surely missed out.
The evening started with a local band known as The Grey Curtain.  The early arrivals were treated to a solid set in The Underground.  I can actually say they deserved a larger crowd and the main stage.  They gave it their all and you can see the crowd appreciated them.
The Grey Curtain is:
Dennis Leighton-Vocals, Acoustic Bass
James Miller- Keyboards
Robert Miller – Bass
Sean Daudelin – Drums
Dan Whiteknact – Guitar
The main stage opened soon after with local band Enemy Remains.  Led by Frank Morin on vocals and backed with the likes of Steve Zimmerman on drums (former Fates Warning), this band knows how to grab the attention of the crowd and they set the tone right for the night. Enemy Remains is supporting their latest album “No Faith In Humanity“.  They rocked out the stage with hits like “Trust In No One” and “Empty inside”. They can be found on iTunes and Spotify and are currently hard at work in the studio. Enemy Remains is currently nominated for Metal Act Of The Year for the New England Music awards 2017.

Tommy Blardo “The Beast” – Guitars/Vocals
Jeff Curtis -Bass
Scott Kadish -Guitars
Hitting the stage next was Soldiers Of Solace. This is the second time this band has opened for Nonpoint here in CT.  While some might consider them new to the scene, they are packed with experience and talent!  Fans were treated to hits like “Rude Awakening” and “Cold As Stone“.  The growing crowd was warming up and the pit slowly became evident now. Vocalist Jason Longo powered through his lyrics and set with the rocking members behind him. Soldiers Of Solace is also in the running for Metal Act Of The Year in the New England Music Awards 2017.
Soldiers Of Solace is:
Ron Therrien – Bass Guitar
Jeff Fahy – Lead Guitar
Jason Longo – Vocals
Francesco Daniele – Drums
Luis Cubille – Rhythm Guitar
The stage was set for the next local band to rock out. In The Red is no stranger to the spotlight.  Led vocally by Cody Place, the Webster Theater was now jumping and rocking out fully. Cody’s stage presence was certainly very notable. Add the guitar talent of Peter Rizzo behind him along with the others and the fans were treated to some amazing hits. They fed the crowd’s thirst with songs such as “Enemy” and “Giving In”. In The Red is currently supporting their latest ep “New Blood” and is in the studio working on new material.
In The Red is:
Cody Place – Vocals
Peter Rizzo – Guitars
John Halligan – Drums
Arthur Pelletier – Bass
Weapons Of Anew took the main stage next. These guys have been on this tour with Nonpoint and Alter Bridge.  Fans were fully packed in now 700 or so strong and were fully rocking, moshing and pitting.  The band, made up of members from HavocHate and Spread Eagle, is gaining momentum in the music scene. Weapons Of Anew refuses to be categorized and brings their uniqueness and powerfulness to the stage every time. As a photographer, I enjoyed their stage presence and you can see them relating to the fans and having a great time up there.  Their recent video for “Killshot” can be found online.
Weapons Of Anew is:
Ray West – Vocals
Freddy Ordine – Guitar
Stefan “Reno” Cutrupi – Bass
Chris Manfre – Drums
The crowd was set for Nonpoint.  The night was about to reach a whole new level of intensity and it was reached and felt with the first notes of “Mindtrip”.  The energy front man Elias Soriano brings to the stage sends shock waves through you.  The pit never stopped moving and the crowd did not stop singing as they tore through tracks such as “El Diablo”, “Breaking Skin” and “What A Day”.  What I personally love about this band, the fans are family to them.  Robb Rivera (drummer) personally communicates on social media and you do not see this often.  This band is down to Earth and original and true to themselves as well as the fans.  The night finished strong with more hits such as “In The Air Tonight”, “Alive And Kicking” and “Bullet With A Name”.
CT for sure loves when Nonpoint is in town.  We can only hope we see them again soon. They left a powerful statement to the crowd and we felt it “In The Air Tonight” as we always do with them!  Do not forget to catch any of the bands that were in this bill if you can, they all bring it to the stage with every song.
