Anyone Anyway at the Met – Pawtucket, RI

New England has been getting their share of winter storms lately.  Anyone Anyway’s show at the Met in Pawtucket, RI came the day after a winter blizzard in March.  This was the first time I’ve ever been at the Met and didn’t know what to expect from a sound and lighting perspective.
Anyone Anyway is from Rhode Island and is an alternative/emo rock band with touches of post-rock and post-hardcore.  Influenced by bands like Thrice and Microwave, they bring a mix of emotion, heavy sounding guitars, and catchy vocals in their music.
They came out strong and you could immediately feel the energy in the crowd.  The crowd was drawn to the stage as Nick McCarty, on vocals, took stage to open with “Sway.”  Nick’s vocals were strong and melodic throughout the set.  During different parts of their songs the band would explode musically and physically by jumping and grooving to their music. The overall sound and lighting were great at the Met.
Guitarists Colin Peck and Nick Almeida seamlessly traded off solos with a heavy rhythm crunch.  I never saw a guitarist punch their pedals, but Colin let loose on his creating some interesting sound.  The rhythm section (Max Couto – drums, Dimitri Christo – bass) was solid and drove through each song throughout the set.
Anyone Anyway is currently doing a regional tour through Vermont, Canada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York before they come back to start on some new material.
All in all, I thought they jammed and I enjoyed the entire set. If you ever have a chance to check Anyone Anyway out, go do it and you won’t be disappointed.
