The Cabot in Beverly is still abuzz with waves of aftershock from folk rock band Delta Rae’s brilliant performance Thursday nite! Known for big percussion and even bigger voices, this band of six multi-talented musicians brought the house down with endless energy and an addicting beat!
Opening for the powerful headlining band was country singer songwriter Aubrie Sellers. While Sellers has a pretty voice and her version of The Beach Boys tune “In My Room” was spectacular, the rest of the performance was lukewarm in comparison to the energy put forth by Delta Rae. Her melodic voice seemed too soft at times and the music overpowered her. All in all, pleasant but lukewarm.
Formed in 2009 in Durham, North Carolina, Delta Rae is comprised of three siblings Ian Holljes (vocals and guitar), Eric Holljes (vocals, guitar, piano and keys) and Brittany Holljes (vocals), along with Elizabeth Hopkins (vocals), Mike McKee (percussions) and Grant Emerson (bass guitar). This band has some serious musical chemistry going on and it bleeds out into the audience with every note. In a word, this show was awesome!!
