With a constantly expanding catalog of hits the Dirty Heads are quickly becoming a band to take notice of. The Huntington Beach natives are currently touring the states in support of their most recent self titled album Dirty Heads, riding high off their previously released album Sound Of Change featuring the massively popular song “My Sweet Summer”. They have the ammo in their arsenal to deliver a performance that’ll leave you moving your feet and wanting to follow them city to city.
This past Saturday night I had the privilege of heading out to cover their show at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI and once again they delivered a performance that was full of the old and packed with the new. Dirty Heads fans will tell you, there’s just something about their performance that hits you in the chest and never lets go. It could be the contact high, but it also could be the fact that since 2008 with the release of their album Any Port In A Storm, these dudes have been delivering fans constantly evolving music while still sticking to their roots and proving you don’t need to sell out to stay relevant.
After getting things started with extremely hyped performances from RDGLDGRN and, a new personal favorite of mine, New Beat Fund it was time to get things started. Dirty Heads kicked the night off with “Burn Slow” which is one of my favorites and a swift call to action for the audience to literally light up. The room quickly became clouded. The energy in the venue was palpable and these guys just kept rollin through hit after hit including “Oxygen” off their latest album Dirty Heads and “Medusa” from Sound Of “Change among countless others. As a big fan of the group I’ve been fortunate enough to follow their progression as artists and have seen every possible sign point in the right direction for them. I’ll continue to listen, show up and keep supporting because at the end of the day “That’s All I Need”.
