70’s Rock band, Foghat, performed a set filled with rock and blues songs from both their catalogue and their recent release, Sonic Mojo.
Drummer Roger Earl, used double bass and a multitude of cymbals to keep the rock and roll beats driving the music. Joining him was Bryan Basset on guitar, a longtime member of the band, whose incredible slide skills take a major role in Foghat’s sound.
From their hits, Slow Ride and Fool for the City to their rendition of the Muddy Waters classic Just Want to Make Love to You, Foghat kept the audience engaged without any gaps. Foghat is a group that holds true to the blues foundation that inspired Rock and Roll and so many others from the 70’s. They have not lost their roots with their latest album offering true blues songs like, Little Bit of Everything, the first song they played Friday night from Sonic Mojo. In total at least three songs from the album were played that night.
Bassist, Rodney O’Quinn did his part not only with cool basslines but also with audience interaction, taking turns with band frontman Scott Holt at the mic, less for singing but more with sharing band info.
Even with the many personnel changes through the years, the band still maintains its sound and continues to offer new, interesting musical contributions to add to the classic Foghat collection. This is a band that has not lost its way and will not disappoint.
