Otherwise played the Brighton Music Hall last week to a pretty packed house. The last time I met these guys was when my friend Ilya was interviewing them at Rocklahoma with me behind the camera. Check out this link to their own website where (around 1:20) front man Adrian Patrick, who’s a pretty big guy, runs like a baby from a bee. The other guys had a good laugh.
What struck me during that brief interview was that the guys in the band were pretty engaging and seemed to have a lot of fun together. I think that comes out on stage. There’s lots of interaction with the other band members and the crowd. At one point during the Music Hall show Adrian climbs up on the front rail between stage and crowd and hangs out before jumping down and taking a stroll through the crowd. I guess he isn’t afraid of heights.
A lot’s happened in the 3 years since that Rocklahoma interview, with the release of 2 albums Enjoy the Pain (2013) and Peace at All Costs (2014). Songs from the new album dominated the set list. Check out Darker Side of the Moon, one of my favorites from Peace at All Costs. It’s a pretty hard rocking tune that starts with a great guitar riff. Of course, in addition to the new stuff, they played their older hits Soldiers and Die for You.
Sharing the stage with them that night were 3 other bands: Luminoth, The Glorious Sons, and 10 Years. I was also pretty impressed by The Glorious Sons, and I’ll write up a separate review for them. It’s a great night of music if they roll into your town.
