After having been rocked by British metal band, Glamour of the Kill, Swedish metal band, Avatar, and co-headliner, Escape the Fate, the crowd was warmed up for the main event: Pop Evil. The mixed chatter melted into cheers of excitement as the lights dimmed down and members Chachi Riot (drums) and Nick Fuelling (guitar) emerged from the shadows. Nick began to play the opening notes for “Flawed,” definitely a different way to start the show instead of “Deal with the Devil.” The rest of the members made their presence known, the last to come out, lead vocalist, Leigh Kakaty. Fists were pumping, the crowd sang along with Kakaty, feeding off of his energy as he fed off of theirs. “Divide” and “Hero’” followed the opening song quickly, then Leigh disappeared backstage briefly as he grabbed his acoustic guitar and began to play “100 in a 55”, the “Evilz” cheering with excitement.

The band didn’t hesitate as they continued the set with “Behind Closed Doors,” slowing it down a bit with “Monster You Made” and picking the pace back up with “Boss’s Daughter.” The vibe from the crowd was through the roof, Pop Evil was certainly rocking Paradise Rock Club, and they gained new fans from the die-hard Escape the Fate fans, not having heard of Pop Evil prior to the show. They continued with the first song from their latest album, Onyx, “Goodbye My Friend,” quickly followed by “Sick Sense” and their current heartbreaking single, “Torn to Pieces.” Pop Evil definitely saved the best for last with their encore being “Deal with the Devil” and “Trenches,” great heavy hitters to end the night with.

All in all, it was no surprise that Pop Evil killed it. Be sure to catch Pop Evil while they are out on the road with Escape the Fate. This is a show you will not want to miss out on!
