Sharon Corr is an Irish singer/songwriter that hails from Dundalk, County Louth. You likely know her as one of the members of the epic Irish band ‘The Corrs’ along with her brother and two sisters. Sharon’s first solo album ‘Dream of You’ was released in September of 2010. The current world tour is promoting her new album ‘The Same Sun’.
Sharon stepped off her tour bus to waiting fans eager for signatures, before slipping into the Brighton Music Hall as her support act ‘The Mighty Stef’ warmed the crowd up. Sharon opened with ‘We could be lovers’ from her new album. From the moment she stepped on stage, she radiated all the traits of a seasoned performer. She was relaxed, yet confident and the crowd quickly warmed to her. Her beautifully soft vocals were captivating, as was her Irish accent which took me back to time I spent living in Dublin, Irealnd. She mentioned that she was having the most fun she’s ever had and you could see that she really was in her element. The violin, which she started playing classically at age 6, maintained a central role in her performance and it really was quite breathtaking.
About two thirds through the night she told the story of how she came to record a traditional track with Jeff Beck, ‘Mná Na h’Éireann’. As you can imagine when she started playing the violin the crowd was lapping it up, only to be further captivated as the guitar solo slowly ensued. Such a beautiful collision that many will remember for a long time no doubt.
Mixed with her new songs were a splash of the old favorites such as ‘Listen to the Radio’ and ‘So Young’, before she rounded up night with ‘Lough Erin Shore (Joy of Life)’.
