Galleries: Steve Aoki, Desiigner
Steve Aoki brought the Kolony Tour through Worcester Ma and in signature fashion. He completely blew the roof off the place. Whether you’re a fan of his music or not I can absolutely guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy yourself at his shows. His energy is palpable, the production is incredible and the music hits you right in the chest until you can’t help moving your feet and getting lost in the atmosphere. Joining him on the tour was emerging and equally entertaining Brooklyn rapper Desiigner who was a perfect compliment to Aoki’s already high energy personality.
Throughout the night the crowd got to hear sets from Grandtheft, Quix and Max Styler which really got the crowd energized. But, when Desiigner hit the stage the place got straight up rowdy and in the best way possible. Desiigner burst onto the scene with his smash hit “Panda” and up until the show I honestly didn’t know much more about him besides that and his collaboration with Aoki on “MIC Drop.” That all changed in a matter of thirty minutes with his insanely chaotic and attention grabbing set. He’s a great entertainer! His interaction with the crowd, the non stop back and forth on stage and crowd surf from stage to front of house really capped things off and put him on the map for me to follow from here on out.
After describing the chaotic nature of the night so far, one would think it couldn’t get much crazier but Steve Aoki was up next and if you’ve seen him perform before you’d know that’s not true. I’m telling you, he is one of the best entertainers on the planet. Between the mesmerizing lights and CO2 bursts, his constant jumping around and interaction with the crowd to his stellar monitor displays it’s just a giant non stop party that you never want to end. His latest album Kolony has been garnishing top reviews and chart domination, deservedly so. It’s an album compiled of collaborations with the who’s who in music like Lil Yachty, Wale, Migos and the aforementioned Desiigner. It was awesome to hear one of my favorites off the album “How Else” as well as so many other great tracks throughout the night. The night eventually had to come to an end and with that brought a staple of any Steve Aoki show, the cake! Now if you haven’t seen his show, no, people do not eat cake. Well, i guess they might but that’s only after Aoki launches roughly 15 of them off the stage into the willing faces of the crowd. It’s incredible to watch. Please do yourself a favor and catch his show if it comes to a city near you. It’s incr”edible.”
