After 28 over years of making music and touring, the Goo Goo Dolls are still rocking audiences from around the world. Since forming in Buffalo, New York, Goo Goo Dolls have sold more than 10 million records and have been nominated twice in the Grammy Awards . Their 1998 mega-hit “Iris” lasted nearly a year in the Billboard chart and that is probably one of the songs they are best known for to this very day. Touring on their recently released 10th album Magnetic.
New England Concert Reviews was fortunate enough to cover the first show on this tour On Tuesday, June 25th, the Goo Goo Dolls played The Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester NH.
The restless crowd roared in the nearly full arena that seats 11,000. The lights dimmed and the stage displayed several LED boards lit with old televisions displaying colors and various artistic works. The Goo Goo Dolls appeared on the stage and opened with the 9th song “Last Hot Night” from their newest album, “Magnetic.” The arena was filled with deafening cheers and praise. John Rzeznik loves to work the crowd and the crowd loves them showing many posters and flying black balloons after the song “Black Balloon”.
After seeing them play today one can see their success as the Goo Goo Dolls have blended grunge and power pop in a way that broke through to the mainstream, and continues to build much earned success and admiration of thousands of fans. From what started as a simple punk band in a basement in Buffalo, escalating to a one-hit-wonder with “Name”, and later went on an epic launch to success with “Iris,” this band is now writing hit after hit flawlessly. The Goo Goo Dolls performed the new single “Rebel Beat” from there recently released10th album Magnetic in May, the loyal fans already knew all the words. Just showing that the band is still delivering hits today
The Goo Goo Dolls never fail to deliver a high energy show If you have the chance Go see them in your town you will not be disappointed.
