Third Eye Blind performed at Hampton Casino for the initial show in support of their latest release, Screamer. The crowd did not seem to mind the standing only show and I was up at the stage even before the opening act, Smallpools who are with them for this leg of the tour, came on.
The music included a short set of acoustic guitar with only Third Eye Blind front man Stephan Jenkins on stage. The full band performed songs from its six studio albums including “Semi-charmed Life” and “How’s it Going to Be.” Jenkins mentioned that the set list was the longest they’ve had for a live show in many years.
The show included lights and lasers and was different from any I have seen at the venue before. It provided the feel of a much larger show. The crowd was energized by the music and the energy of Jenkins and the lead guitarist. Unlike most shows, the drummer was positioned with a clear line of sight and allowed for good interaction with the other band members. Since this is the start of the tour look for them to be at other venues in the area.
