The Verve Pipe, who first made in big in the 1990’s, performed at City Winery in Boston to a standing room only crowd. Brian Vander Ark, one of the founding members and still the lead singer, shared a walk through the history of the band as well as personal events that have lead him to this latest incarnation of The Verve Pipe.
The band performed songs starting with the first album and proceeding through their career. Not My Cup of Tea, Photograph, Hero, Never Let You Down and the bands biggest hit, The Freshman, were all included in the evening’s set list. The violinist and lead guitarist both did some impressive solo work throughout the evening. Included in the setlist were a couple of incredible covers: Blue Oyster Cult’s Don’t Fear the Reaper and Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain. This version of the band is equal to or perhaps even better than the 90’s original and well worth going to see.
