The cd “A Blueprint for Writhing” is a hard rock harmonious surprise. It drives the emotional train down the tracks and rides a path which is full of passionate lyrics along with rhythmic chords while creating a sound that spills over with simplistic vibrancy.
The members that make up the band from Jackson, Tennessee are rough and expressive. Originally known as Lappdog, which was changed to One Less Reason has released five albums independently since their beginning in 2003. Chris Brown, Terry Brown, Jerry Bailey, Jeff Moore and Brad Butler currently make up this melodic group of musical flair.
“All Beauty Fades” is a heartfelt, creative sound that takes you from the top to bottom of the emotional ladder and it expresses the bands intention right from the start.
Speculatively, the cd has a recurrent theme; the presence of love in our lives and analyzes it from every aspect. “The Wrong One” seems to tell a story of devotion, but in a dark, possessive form. The lyrics, combined with strong acoustics and incredible vocals, create an evocative composition.
The late lead singer for Joan Red, Anthony Basurto was a personal friend of Chris Brown’s and before he passed away he recorded the vocals for the song “Never Let You Go” while they were working in the studio. Blair Simpson with “Uneasy” which is a romantic sad song that talks about letting go. The lyrics are penned gracefully almost like a poetic stanza.
The last track off this cd “Blueprint” gives off a heavy bass that accompanies the feeling of this song. It implies an impression of faith once lost in a somewhat comforting way.
The entire cd presents a common theme, looking at love from many possible aspects. If you like emotionally charged ballads then “A Blueprint for Writhing” is a cd you’ll enjoy listening to.
