Device’s Debut CD

Dave Draiman has embarked on a new undertaking of Metal excellence. Right now his newest venture is a band called Device. They will be appearing at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville CT., this upcoming Friday, July 5th. He and the band have entered a new dimension with this group along with their new cd. Dramian with (ex-Filter) member Geno Lenardo assembled Device with shards of Loud Rock, Industrial and Electronica. The duo co-wrote and recorded the tracks on the cd.

Device’s Debut CD was released in early April of 2013. It hit number 11 on the Top 200 Billboard Chart and sold over 35K in its first week. This group consists of Will Hunt, Evanescence drummer and Virus, Dope and Rock of Ages guitarist. Most recently the band won Revolver’s Golden God Award for “Best New Talent”, and just wrapped up the video for the second single “So You Think You Know.”

According to the bands website “Both Hunt and Virus jumped at the chance to be a part of this powerhouse trio”, “As soon as I heard the music, I thought it was super cutting edge,” Hunt explains. “I knew this was something I wanted to be involved in. It’s going to give people goose bumps whether they hear it on their stereo or live.” Virus echoes that sentiment. “This is an album from start to finish, and it’s meant to be experienced like that. These songs are all strong, and they’ll stay stuck in your head.”

The self-titled cd is constructed with experimentation and self-discovery in mind. Sticking to conventional ways was not the intention. The track “Vilify” captures the force in which Draiman is known for. Five tracks off this cd feature very special guests. An Ozzy and Lita Ford favorite ‘If I Close My Eyes Forever” is none other done by Draiman and Lzzy Hale from Halestorm, they put a different twist on the original and give it a razor sharp edge.  The infamous bassist Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath appears on the song “Out Of Line”, he adds his hauntingly style bass line to send the song into a dark and demonic tail spin. Serj Tankian from System of a Down swaps stellar vocals with Draiman on this track as well.

This cd is hard core with many guests, Tom Morello, M. Shadows and Glenn Hughes are not to be left out, they contribute their fine-tuned attributes and help Device conquer the task they set for themselves as a unit. They will be joining forces with Megadeth, BLS, Hellyeah, Newsted and Special Guest Death Divison on the Gigantour 2013 schedule.
