Foo Fighters have said that the sessions for their new album are “fucking on”.
The band posted a picture of a row of master tapes labelled ‘Foo Fighters LP 8’ to their official Instagram account earlier this week. The photo was accompanied by the caption “It’s Fucking ON”.
Dave Grohl spoke about the band’s eighth album at the end of 2013 to Rolling Stone, saying they were about to start recording. “It’s badass,” he commented. “We’re doing something that nobody knows about, it’s fucking rad. We begin recording soon, but we’re doing it in a way that no one’s done before and we’re writing the album in a way that I don’t think has been done before.”
Foo Fighters will headline a special gig next month in the run up to February’s Superbowl. Imagine Dragons, The Roots and Fall Out Boy will also perform at the event, which will be sponsored by the Bud Light Hotel, and will take place at New York’s Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Foo Fighters will team up with the Zac Brown Band for the February 1 gig. Dave Grohl recently worked on the country band’s latest EP.
Foo Fighters recently made their live return, performing in Mexico on December 11, 2013. During the concert, the band covered songs by The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Tom Petty.
