Dead Daisies, the rock supergroup taking the world’s stages by storm, has just released an epic live album, “Live & Louder,” recorded on their 2016 world tour. (Full disclosure – I’m a fanboy, having seen and shot the band across multiple venues and continents.) Whether in an intimate club or filling an arena, the band renews one’s faith that rock is alive and thriving.
The Daisies are an Australian-American supergroup and musical collective influenced by 70’s and 80’s hard rock, with a sound that fuses soulful vocals with blues-based riffs, replete with hooks and melodies –delivered with world-class musicianship and swagger you’d expect from members of the world’s greatest hard rock acts (band members’ resumes include tours with Whitesnake, Dio, Thin Lizzy, Lynch Mob, Mötley Crüe, Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne and Ted Nugent just to name a few).
The album is number six for the band (since 2013, the band has been prolific, putting out four albums, two EPs and nine singles). The songs on the live album are from their more recent sets: ten originals, and five classic covers (Fortune Son, Join Together, Helter Skelter, American Band, Midnight Moses).
There’s a lot to love about the new release – here’s but a partial list, in no particular order:
- The band’s live set is TIGHT – the album captures the spirit and energy of the live show
- Every song is a hit – all meat, no filler here!
- Superb recording quality that lets each band member shine
- Colorful booklet with Oliver Halfin’s terrific photos chronicling the band’s exploits worldwide
- A “Behind the Scenes” bonus DVD
With this new album and ongoing heavy touring, the band is likely hitting a club, arena, or festival near you. Catch them if you can: http://thedeaddaisies.com/shows/
