Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s From Ashes to New will make a stop at Big Night Live on Wednesday, November 5, as part of their national “New Disease Tour,” bringing their distinctive fusion of hard rock, hip-hop, and electronic music to Boston audiences.
The five-piece band—comprising vocalists Danny Case and Matt Brandyberry, guitarists Lance Dowdle and Jimmy Bennett, and drummer Maty Madiro—has built a substantial following since their 2016 debut. Their most recent album, 2023’s “Blackout,” released through Better Noise Music, topped multiple iTunes and Spotify rock and metal charts internationally and has accumulated over 278 million lifetime global streams.
The current tour takes its name from the band’s latest single, “New Disease,” released July 25. The track addresses what vocalist Matt Brandyberry describes as society’s obsession with viral trends and recognition at any cost. “Every day there’s a new trend,” Brandyberry said in a statement. “Every day there’s a new wave of people going out of their way to be recognized no matter the cost. We are hypnotized by our vices…we will kill ourselves to be noticed.”
The “New Disease Tour,” produced by Live Nation, launched September 20 in St. Louis and runs through November 14 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Support acts include Magnolia Park, Until I Wake, and Not Enough Space. Following the tour’s conclusion, the band will make their third appearance at this year’s Warped Tour revival on November 15 in Orlando.
“Blackout” received positive critical reception upon its release. Music publication Knotfest noted the band’s ability to blend multiple genres, stating the album captured “an exciting immediacy to their sound that recalls the music renaissance of the late 90s and early 2000s.” The album served as a creative prequel to the band’s debut “Day One,” reflecting themes of pandemic-era anxiety and unrest.
The band’s sound combines elements rarely heard together in contemporary rock music—aggressive metal instrumentation paired with hip-hop vocal delivery and electronic production—creating what critics have described as music with “arena-sized choruses” and broad commercial appeal.
