Veteran rock quartet set to release self-titled eighth studio album in January
Florida-based rock band Alter Bridge is gearing up for a significant return to the music scene with the release of their self-titled eighth studio album, scheduled to drop January 9, 2026, via Napalm Records.
The quartet—consisting of vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips—has unveiled their second single from the forthcoming album, “What Lies Within,” accompanied by an animated video directed by J.T. Ibanez. The track follows their debut single “Silent Divide,” which has been climbing the Active Rock charts since its release last month and has accumulated over 2 million views.
“What Lies Within” showcases the band’s signature sound with driving guitar work from Kennedy and Tremonti, underpinned by the rhythmic foundation of Marshall and Phillips. The song explores darker thematic territory, with Kennedy delivering lyrics that examine the shadows within human nature.
The upcoming 12-track album was recorded over two months this spring at two locations: the legendary 5150 studio in California and producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette’s facility in Florida. Baskette, a longtime collaborator with the band, helmed the production.
Notable tracks include “Slave To Master,” reportedly the longest song the band has recorded to date, and “Hang By A Thread,” which the band expects will become a concert favorite. Several tracks feature alternating vocal duties between Kennedy and Tremonti, including “Trust In Me” and “Tested And Able.”
To support the album release, Alter Bridge has announced an ambitious touring schedule. The What Lies Within Tour will launch with 31 European dates beginning January 15 in Hamburg, Germany, and concluding March 5 in Nottingham, United Kingdom. Support acts Daughtry and Sevendust will join the tour. A notable stop includes a performance at the Blackbird Festival at Cardiff Castle in Wales on June 27.
The band will also embark on a U.S. leg of the tour, with a Boston date scheduled for May 10 at the Citizen House of Blues Boston. The North American run kicks off April 25 in Orlando and includes 17 dates across the country.
Since forming in 2004, Alter Bridge has established themselves as a fixture in modern hard rock, achieving gold certification for their debut album “One Day Remains” and scoring six consecutive Top 20 debuts on the Billboard 200. Their 2022 release “Pawns & Kings” garnered critical acclaim, with Classic Rock magazine calling it “the Rolls-Royce of Alter Bridge records.”
The new album is available for pre-order in multiple formats, including various vinyl editions and CD configurations.
