It was another packed house for another phenomenal evening of award winning music at The Cabot Friday night!
Gloucester’s own singer songwriter, Chelsea Berry kicked off the night with a host of originals and a few covers thrown in for color. Chelsea is well known and well-loved on Cape Ann. Her smooth vocals are the perfect instrument to deliver songs which were born of life’s richness. Chelsea connects directly with her audience, she’s warm and likeable and really gives a great performance. Go see her, she doesn’t disappoint.
Next up was headliner, Belinda Carlisle, formerly lead singer of The Go-Go’s. The Go-Go’s were rock band formed in the late 70’s and known as the first all-female rock band to both play their own instruments and write their own songs. Musically, Carlisle delivered beautifully sung hits that were pleasing to the ear. She smiled and danced and shook the tambourine. Performance-wise she didn’t appear to connect to her fans on a personal level, although one might say that there didn’t appear to be the expectation that she would as the audience danced and cheered and were happy enough to just hear the music. Carlisle performed all the songs the crowd came to hear—Mad About You, I Get Weak, Leave a Light On as well as a handful of hits from the Go-Go’s. All in all it was a fun evening of great music in one of the best venues the Northshore has to offer.
