Galleries: Coheed and Cambria, Taking Back Sunday
Over the past few years Boston Harbor’s Blue Hills Bank Pavilion has become my favorite place to watch prog rock geniuses Coheed and Cambria put on a performance. This summer they shared the stage with co-headliner, alt rock favorites Taking Back Sunday.
Taking Back Sunday took the stage first in Boston. Mixing in songs from all across their discography they performed with tight musicianship and consistent crowd engagement throughout the entire set. Classic mic swinging from vocalist Adam Lazzarra dazzled fans as the band sampled tunes from throughout their discography, dating back to their inception in 1999.
Coheed and Cambria took the stage to follow. Always putting on a spectacular show that never disappoints, lead’s Claudio Sanchez with his signature head of beautiful hair dancing above one of many beautiful Gibsons is something magical to watch. When you add the rest of the band, the electrifying prog rock musical perfection and the always dazzling lighting and production that backs the band… it’s a show you can’t tear your eyes or ears away from.
The group covered all of their bases in terms of their well chosen set list from their various releases spanning back to 1995, and closed out their set with their most well known “Welcome Home” which gives me goosebumps every time I see it performed live.
Coheed and Cambria is becoming a summer staple, with their killer music literally lighting up the Boston Waterfront. I will continue to look forward to seeing them live at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion at the Pavilion or any venue.
