The Doobie Brothers and Steve Winwood delivered an unforgettable night of classic rock at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on August 12, 2024. This concert was a part of their 2024 tour, and both acts brought their legendary sounds to an enthusiastic crowd.

Steve Winwood kicked off the evening with a set that showcased his remarkable career spanning several decades. Opening with the Traffic classic “Glad,” Winwood immediately set the tone with his masterful keyboard skills. His setlist was a journey through his illustrious past, including hits from his time with Blind Faith and the Spencer Davis Group. Songs like “Can’t Find My Way Home” and “I’m a Man” were met with rapturous applause, highlighting Winwood’s enduring appeal.

Winwood’s performance of “Higher Love” and “Gimme Some Lovin’” were standout moments, captivating the audience with their infectious energy. His band, featuring his daughter Lilly Winwood, provided tight, polished support, allowing Winwood’s vocals and instrumental prowess to shine. The set was a perfect blend of nostalgia and timeless musicianship, leaving the audience eager for more.

The Doobie Brothers took the stage with the powerful “Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While),” immediately engaging the audience with their signature harmonies and rock grooves. The band, featuring core members Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Pat Simmons, and John McFee, delivered a set that was both a celebration of their extensive catalog and a testament to their enduring talent.

On a personal note, I grew up in the 70s and 80s, but did not have the chance to witness the live performances of some of my rock and roll heroes. So, it was a special thrill for me to finally see a couple of those legends in concert and cross them off my bucket list.
