Billy Talent played the Sinclair last week, to a respectably crowded house for a Sunday night. These guys are another band that I fell into through Spotify. I’ve written about this before, but sometimes it’s just spooky how their recommender system can pick music out of the air they know I will like. (Had to give them a shout out, because this is what I do for my day job.)
Lead Benjamin Kowalewicz (Billy Talent is the name of the band, not a member), has a very distinctive voice that seems to made for punk rock. Give a couple of tracks on You Tube a listen. Some of my favorites are Red Flag and Fallen Leaves.
Shooting at the Sinclair was interesting. There was not photo pit so I was right there in the middle of the crowd. This also meant that the crowd surfers had no outlet. They’d kind of circle around on top of the crowd until someone’s arms got tired, sometimes for a pretty long time.
I love the over the top energy these guys put into their show. It’s a lot of fun to watch (and photograph). Make sure you check out the galleries, and go see them up close in person if they come to your town.
