John Pardi at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion – Gilford, NH

Photos and Review by David Gilion

Finishing out an amazing summer of shows at the Bank Of New Hampshire Pavilion was one to remember. With temperatures getting down into the low 40s on the night of the show, I wish I would’ve bundled up a little more. Unfortunately due to my own lack of awareness of the time I missed the first act which was Hailey Whitters. She has drawn one heck of a following on social media thanks to her song Everything She Ain’t. If you haven’t heard it, give it a listen because it’s wildly catchy.

Next up was Lainey Wilson, and I regret to say I don’t know much of her music. With that said she was incredibly fun to watch perform, regardless of whether you were singing along or not. The beauty of country music concerts for me is how these performers can engage with the crowd. About halfway through her set, she gave a quick rundown on her humbling journey into country music. She talked about how she left her high school sweetheart to follow a dream with just a tow behind camper in Nashville. Her story was amazing to listen to and I’m looking forward to seeing her again.

And finally, around 9:15 Jon Pardi took to the stage. The charisma that he brings is just downright awesome. He started off the show with the song Tied One On which surprised me since it is a slower tempo type song. He immediately followed it up with one of his most popular songs on Night Shift, and boy did the crowd get loud. He loves interacting with his crowds, even taking a selfie with someone’s phone up front. That didn’t come close to the one lucky guy he brought up on stage to sing Missin’ You Crazy with him, and of course he left the stage with an autograph and one hell of a story.

Getting towards the end of the night his fiddle player took center stage and played The Star Spangled Banner as an acoustic. I’ve heard some loud crowds at this venue in the past but once he wrapped up the whole place erupted and it was deafening. Wrapping up the night was the ultimate send-off for the crowd. His song Head Over Boots put the perfect ending to an unbelievable performance. I would without a doubt go well out of my way to catch a Jon Pardi show again. If you ever have the chance just go, it’ll be worth it.
