In addition to the band members he has been touring with in recent years, Martin Barre was joined by Dee Palmer and Clive Bunker for the 50 years of Jethro Tull Tour. Tupelo Music Hall in Derry provided an intimate venue in which to enjoy the classic sounds of this band with all the hits including Bungle in the Jungle, Living in the Past and of course Aqualung.
Dan crisp does a fabulous job on vocals keeping true to the Tull sound. Alan Thomson on bass and Darby Todd on drums round out the group. For this tour Dee Palmer is back on keyboards and Clive Bunker performed an incredible drum solo. Although Palmer and Bunker did not perform for the entire night they did put in great performances in celebration of 50 years of the legendary band.
Barre was awesome on his PRS with solos in every song. There was even a short acoustic session during the first set. This is the second time I have seen this band live and would definitely see them again. The crowds are awesome and are true fans getting into every song. The band performs all the fan favorites and well known hits. For this particular tour, the music was accompanied by a number of short film sequences projected behind the band reviewing key elements of the bands journey to success, who they toured with, worked with and what their focus was with each album release. Something special for fans that have shared that journey.
If you can catch this 50th anniversary tour DO IT! If you miss this one watch for the next tour and make sure to see this legend in person.
