Southern rockers, Robert Jon and the Wreck, absolutely rocked Blue Ocean Music Hall in
Salisbury MA on a hot summer night with appropriately, a Red Moon Rising (name of their last
album released) in the background over the ocean, right outside the venue.
On tour in advance of their new release, Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes, the band with Robert
Jon Burrison on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Andrew Espantman on drums, Henry James
Schneekluth on lead guitar, Warren Murrel on bass and Jake Abernathie on keyboard,
performed a solid set with almost no breaks in the music. A set filled with guitar solos by Henry
James, keyboard solos and a classic southern rock sound to Robert Jons vocals. There was
even an incredible drum solo by Andrew, fast, powerful and full of great stick work.
Although the band truly has a southern rock sound, you can absolutely see where their
individual influences come from. A Leslie on the keyboards shows some ‘70s influences with
some similarities to Yes and the Doors. The guitar solos at small moments bring Hendricks to
mind. However, even with these influences being obvious, the band absolutely has its own
sound and pulls all of it together to provide an engaging southern rock experience.
This is definitely a band to add to your list if you have not already attended one of their shows!
