The Casino Ballroom was jammed packed on Friday night with both very young and not-so-old, to take in one of the great rock bands that is going right now and that’s Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. The band made their return trip after having played the venue last year, and this time, the crowd witnessed another killer show.
The setlist featured songs that were classic and new from Slash’s vast catalogue, ranging from stuff that he’s done with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, to his solo album, Velvet Revolver, and of course, Guns ‘N Roses. Everyone in the sold out venue loved all of the classic GNR material, including all the hits like “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “Nightrain”, “You Could Be Mine” and sweet version of “Rocket Queen” that had a sweet extended guitar solo and jam in the middle.
While the classics got the majority of the crowd feeling nostalgic, all of the new stuff is nothing to bat an eye at either. The two albums that Slash has done with Kennedy and the Conspirators are pretty damn amazing as they carry the flag for current hard rock. The opened with “You’re A Lie”, and continued on with others, including the rock radio hit “Anastasia” towards the end of the night. The show concluded with the encore of the GNR crowd favorite of “Paradise City”.
Everyone knows about Slash and his guitar prowess, but also should be mentioned is Myles Kennedy. The one again, off again lead singer of Alter Bridge has a great voice and knows how to command the stage, as he showed off in mass quantity. No wonder why everybody wants to work with this guy. Slash and the band blew the roof off of the Casino Ballroom. Slash showed why he is one of the most iconic guitar players in rock with some of the most recognizable guitar licks in rock history. So if you take Slash and pair him up with one of the best lead singers in rock today, Myles Kennedy, and have one hell of a tight band with them in The Conspirators, you have one rock show that should not be missed by anyone who is a fan of hard rock.
