STYX was incredible, taking the final spot for the night in the Brotherhood of Rock tour stop at Xfinity Center in Mansfield MA. Starting with The Grand Illusion, the crowd was drawn in from the first note. With Lawrence Gowan on keyboards and vocals standing on a rotating keyboard platform from which he showed what a great performer he is more than just the keyboardist. He got the show, off to a perfect start.

Terry Gowan, younger brother to Lawrence, was on bass for the whole set with Chuck Panozzo coming on stage for a few songs to share bass duties. Will Evankovich and James Young were on guitar with James taking the lead role. Tommy Shaw, co-vocalist, who still sounds awesome, also fills rolls as guitarist, both electric and acoustic, and mandolin. Drums are handled by the incredible Todd Sucherman who is all over his massive, beautiful, Sonor kit.

Playing songs from their many albums and having their latest, Circling from Above, released within days of the show, then ending the night with Renegade, the music never stopped and only hit on a small segment of their vast catalogue.

STYX had a great stage design, backgrounds and lighting to accompany the music and add to the overall experience. Just an incredible performance. Check out the new album for sure and the Tour if you get the opportunity.
