Fire, bright lights, sparklers, fabulous back-up dancers and brass instruments; all of these elements are what make up an amazing Usher show. This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to witness this event and for my first pop show, I was blown away by Usher’s epic stage presence.
The lights dimmed and the large screen flashed various images upon our faces, enlightening our curiosity for what Usher had in store for us. Surely enough, the images came to an end and revealed an opening for Usher to make his entrance through the smoke haze that rolled across the stage. The diehard fans screamed at the sight of his silhouetted figure as he spun and sparklers shot up from the stage. He then kicked off his 25-song-set with “My Way,” “OMG,” “Love in this Club,” and “You Make Me Wanna…” accompanied by a brass instrument set and flames shooting up from the stage, literally heating up the set.
Not a moment was wasted as he continued his set with “Lil’ Freak,” “Nice & Slow,” “U Remind Me,” “Twisted,” and “Caught Up.” Watching the way Usher moved with his back-up dancers was absolutely mesmerizing and such a perfect complement to his beautiful voice. The fans sang along to these hits at the top of their lungs, the ones in front pressing their bodies against the barricade in hopes to get close to the god that was performing before them. After “Climax,” he then proceeded with “Confessions,” a medley of “Hey Daddy/My Boo/I Need a Girl,” an incredible cover of Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz’s hit “Lovers and Friends,” and another medley of “I Don’t Mind/Body Language/New Flame.” The night was far from over and Usher was just getting started.
Immediately following “Burn,” the next to be played was “There Goes My Baby,” one of his hits, “U Got It Bad,” “Superstar,” “Bad Girl,” and “Good Kisser.” The night was coming to an end; the fun was heating up, however Usher still had a few more songs up his sleeve. He proceeded to finish the set with “U Don’t Have to Call,” “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” another one of his hits, “Yeah!” and “Without You.” Usher exited the stage, leaving his ever-adoring fans begging for more of his sweet, beautiful, soulful voice and left me speechless by his epic performance.
Overall, to say Usher was amazing live is a huge understatement and there are no other words to describe his performance. Check out Usher’s future tour dates on his official website, you will not want to miss out on this tour!
