Chart topping County Music Singer Alan Jackson a Georgia native is certainly no stranger to these parts as Jackson played the Mohegan sun as recently as 2014 familiarity has bred a solid fan base in New England and another sold-out show at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland Maine on Saturday January 24, 2015. Jackson took the stage to packed house along with his band the Strayhorns.
The Crowd was on their feet from the get go as he began the set with one of his hit songs “Chattahoochee”. A crew member then brought out a large handful of t-shirts which Jackson tossed out to people in the crowd. This got everybody reeling.
Jackson took time throughout the set to give his band sometime in the spotlight letting several of them present solos as introductions for a variety of songs. Jackson also took time to involve the crowd having them sing the chorus to several of his songs. Its refreshing to see an artist have such mutual respect for fans alike.
Despite his throwback style, Jackson hasn’t lost touch with modern country. He reprised his duet with Zac Brown on the song “As She’s Walking Away,” letting guitarist Monty Lane Allen handle Brown’s vocal parts.
He also served up “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere,” a genre-crossing song that has become a staple at Jimmy Buffett concerts (he sang on the original recording) and part of the party-crowd lexicon.
All in all Jackson put on a great show if you get the chance to cat him the next time around do it you will not be disappointed.
