After Co-headlining the main stage for the Mayhem Festival this summer, Five Finger Death Punch started a new Headlining tour supporting their new release “The Wrong Side Of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1”. The tour made it’s way to the Best Buy Theater on Saturday, October 12th 2013 with supporting act Escape the Fate, Miss May I and Gemini Syndrome.
Kicking off the night was Gemini Syndrome. A band poised to be the next best thing coming out of the Los Angeles music scene, and they did not disappoint. They pounded out 7 songs from their debut release “Lux”. That is normally a lot of songs for the first band, but they set the momentum for the next band Miss May I. Miss May I is a metalcore band from Ohio who have gotten a lot of attention with their newest release “At Heart” This band is full of energy and really got the crowd moving and amped even more. Followed by Miss May I was Escape the Fate. This was my third time seeing Escape the Fate and they get better and better every time. I have never been disappointed with an Escape the Fate performance.
And for the Headliner’s, Five Finger Death Punch. Performing before a sold out theater, they started off their 15 song set with “Under and Over it”, from the American Capitalist release. That was an excellent choice for an opening song because it kicked the night into full gear. Not wasting any time, the band went right into “Burn it Down”. Not one person was standing still until the 6th song, which was their rendition of “Bad Company”. The whole audience took a breather and sang along with Ivan. It was kind of a tear jerker for me considering he dedicated it all the service men and women in the Armed Forces. I myself have served 21 years in the United States Army and have been deployed multiple times. That really hit close to home and once again made me proud that there are people out there that appreciate the sacrifices that our men and women in uniform make to keep this country safe.
About the tenth song in, they debut the song “Battle Born”, which is on their upcoming release “The Wrong Side Of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2” set to release November 19th 2013. After that they finished the show off with hit after hit, and they even threw in their version of LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out”.  The band came back for a two song encore. The first was “Far from Home” (a cappella) and the second was “The Bleeding”. It’s safe to say that this show left everybody tired, happy and anxious to see Five Finger Death Punch again.
