Walk off the Earth formed in 2006 in Ontario, Canada, and have become a YouTube sensation. Along with creating some exceptional covers, they have also produced original music. They and are known for using an array of different instruments, including the ukulele, a theremin, and many other gadgets and gizmos. Their live show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas was no exception.
Their covers included Adele’s “Hello,” The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” and more. The playlist included a good mix that appeals to both the young and old, including children (in which many were in attendance). I was fascinated as they performed “Somebody I Used to Know” while gathered around a single guitar, strumming the strings together. They hummed the tune to Super Mario Bros., threw instruments in the air, exploded confetti, and launched at least a dozen huge balloons into the audience. The night ended with an electric cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” allowing the audience to share in their farewell by singing the epic song at the top of their lungs. All in all, it was a wonderful show and fun for all ages.
