My teenage dreams came to life when I got the opportunity to shoot Third Eye Blind with Dashboard Confessional. These two bands supplied the soundtrack for some of my most memorable teenage moments. High school memories came flooding back to the tune of 3EB’s ‘Jumper’ and flashbacks from a college romance to the sound of Dashboard’s ‘Screaming Infidelities’.
When I heard they were coming to the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Casino, I jumped on the chance to cover.
Dashboard Confessional opened and started the show with a half full theater. Dashboard’s singer Chris Carrabba, is nothing short of a heart throb. Taking the stage in a leather jacket he later stripped down to show off in all of his tattooed glory.   He gave off a fun and genuine vibe the entire set. Hooking the crowd instantly, Dashboard put on a high energy performance. Oozing stage presence, they quickly got the crowd singing along to their favorite tunes. The band members played off each other and looked as if they were having the time of their lives just to be back on the stage.
The theater was packed by the time Dashboard’s set came to an end. I wasn’t a bit surprised by the screaming crowd anxious for Third Eye Blind to perform. I personally had to calm the fangirl inside to keep it professional. The band took the stage to almost complete darkness and smoke. Lead singer Stephan Jenkins spent the first two songs behind the drum set in the dark donning a hood…which only upped the anticipation of the fans. As the show went on, the lights came up and Stephan came out of hiding to reveal himself to the enthusiastic crowd. The set list was well varied with old classics and new material. Throughout the performance I caught myself singing along more than once, mouthing the lyrics to my favorite 3EB classics like ‘Hands Down’. Personally I thought the highlight of their performance was the killer drum solo by drummer Brad Hargreaves. The only negative was that the show ended too soon, but it was a fantastic gift to my generation in particular.
